Dear Community,
We cannot be silent. Our children are not safe.
In communities across this country, immigrant children are living with fear. They are detained. They watch their parents taken away. Some come home to an empty house. This is happening to children we know.
At PS Family, this is personal. We reflect the families we serve and the providers beside us. We are English and Spanish speaking. We are United States-born and immigrants. Some of us have relatives who are undocumented. The families harmed by these policies are our families. They are us.
We stand in solidarity with NAEYC, Birth to Three, NAREA, and the many early childhood organizations committed to protecting our children. We are grateful for NAEYC’s leadership in drafting a statement. We fully endorse NAEYC’s position. We urge you to read “Every Child Deserves Safety: A Statement from NAEYC
The statement lays out what is happening to children across the United States. It explains what child development research shows about prolonged stress and forced separation from caregivers. It calls for clear protections that we can demand from federal, state, and local officials.
Every child is ours. We protect our families. We stand with the children and families who are living this reality each day.
Sincerely,
Miss Emmy
