Workforce Retention Grant: Additional Grant Award (2024)

OCFS has announced an additional award to all current grant recipients who are in good standing and have met and continue to meet the grant requirements. Programs that meet the requirements are eligible for an additional grant award for both components A and B.

2023-2024 Statewide Universal Full-Day Prekindergarten (SUFDPK) Expansion Grant. 

This grant is intended for New York State school districts to increase the availability of full-day and converted half-day to full-day prekindergarten placements for four-year-old students. The grant aims to align with New York State Learning Standards and supports collaborative efforts with eligible community-based organizations. For the 2023-2024 school years, up to $25 million is allocated, with no single district receiving more than 10% of the total funds. This grant prioritizes projects that serve economically disadvantaged students and demonstrate innovation and high quality in prekindergarten programming​ (NYSED)​.

These grants provide significant opportunities for enhancing early childhood education and supporting professionals in the field within New York State.

Preschool Development Grants Birth through Five (PDG B-5): Administered jointly by the U.S. Departments of Education and Health & Human Services, this $250 million competitive federal grant aims to improve states’ early childhood systems. It focuses on building upon existing federal, state, and local early care and learning investments to expand high-quality preschool programs​ (Home).

Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood Grants: The Caplan Foundation provides seed money for innovative research and development projects that improve the welfare of young children in the United States. Grants are awarded in areas such as early childhood education and play, parenting education, and early childhood welfare. The foundation supports projects that are likely to have a significant impact on a national scale, focusing on creative and caring environments for young children​ (Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood)​.
